How a buyer reaches an offer

A buyer can open a Diem offer from an Instagram DM, a public Link Page listing, or a directly shared checkout URL. The public website is a discovery surface; payment and post-purchase access happen on the separate checkout site.

Buyer entry points and destinations
Entry pointWhat opens
Manual Link Page linkThe trusted external URL entered by the seller. Diem does not create an order or receipt.
Diem Link Page listingA new browser tab on pay.startdiem.com for the selected event or resource.
Instagram offer cardThe Diem checkout or configured destination carried by the message.
Direct offer URLThe same Diem checkout without first visiting a Link Page.

What the buyer should see

  1. Offer review

The buyer verifies the seller, offer, item or ticket details, base price, displayed Diem fee, and total. Checkout loads and confirms the authoritative amount from the server.

  2. Buyer details

The checkout asks for name, email, and phone. The buyer does not pre-register: Diem trims and lowercases the email, finds or creates the matching account, and assigns the purchase to it.

  3. Payment

A paid checkout can offer manual card entry and available wallet methods. Some cards require an additional 3DS authentication step.

  4. Confirmation

Diem shows the six-character confirmation and delivery instructions only after payment is settled and the event or resource is ready. A processing state means the order still needs recovery or reconciliation.

  5. Immediate access

The purchasing browser receives a short-lived capability scoped to that purchase and confirmation. It is not a broad buyer-account session.

  6. Later access

On another browser or after the immediate capability expires, sign in with the magic link sent to the exact checkout email. The authenticated account must own the confirmation.
