Your First Automation
Build and verify a comment-to-DM automation using the actual four-step keyword editor.
Prepare a listing and a connected post
Before creating an automation, confirm that Instagram is connected and create at least one listing. The keyword editor can attach up to ten listings, target all connected posts or selected posts, and publish one or more public comment replies.
Use the four-step keyword editor
Keyword
Open Keywords, choose Add keyword, and enter one short, memorable word. Matching is case-insensitive, but punctuation and extra phrasing can make a test ambiguous.
Select Items
Choose one or more events, links, media folders, or donation listings. All Events dynamically uses upcoming event listings.
Instagram Posts
Choose All posts or select specific synchronized posts. No media selection means the keyword can apply across posts.
Auto-Reply Comments
Review, edit, add, or remove the public replies. Diem can rotate among multiple replies, so every option must make sense on its own.
Create Keyword
Review the phone preview, create the keyword, and confirm it appears in the Keywords table with the correct item and post scope.
Test with a separate Instagram account
Open the selected seller post
Use a separate Instagram account rather than the connected business account.
Comment the exact keyword
Wait for the public reply, then check Message Requests and the primary inbox for the automated DM.
Open the offer
Confirm the card title, image, price label, seller, destination, and browser domain before continuing.
Review Diem
Check keyword usage and Audience. A paid-flow test also requires independent confirmation in Sales, Stripe, and the ticket provider.
If the automation does not send
- Confirm the connected Instagram username and refresh the connection in Settings.
- Confirm the keyword is active, attached to a listing, and scoped to the post you tested.
- Try the exact keyword as a standalone comment from a different account.
- Review every configured public reply and make sure at least one remains.
- Check whether automated messaging is disabled in Settings.
- Allow for Meta delivery delays and messaging restrictions before recreating the keyword.
